LBS Ecological (Land Beyond the Sea) is an Ecological Design and Forestry firm based near Ithaca, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. We apply core tenets of Ecological Design and Forestry, focusing on design and planning for the mutual benefit of humans & the natural world; We envision humans as active participants in healing the web of life; We apply the self-designing capacity of ecosystems & their complex interwoven relationships; In gratitude, we involve the shared wisdom of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) of regional Indigenous communities; We embrace integrated, adaptive, & collaborative management approaches; We strive to design closed-loop systems & eliminate the concept of waste; We focus on a localized, community-scale approach, inspiring awareness, stewardship, & action! 

Miguel Berrios is an Ecological Landscape Designer who has accomplished numerous landscape, tree, forest, and ecological surveys, assessments, designs, and management plans. Miguel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from SUNY-Environmental Science & Forestry.  He is a SAF Certified Urban and Community Forester, an ISA Certified Arborist, a Forest Service Qualified Cruiser, and a Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Technical Service Provider for Habitat Planning.
